Verb to be

Hi everyone, today I want to explain you a little about the verb to be (this verb is very easy and it's one of the most important).
Normally we use the verb to show the status or characteristics of something or someone (as stative verb). It says what I am, what you are or what something is.

Here is a picture about the uses of this verb.

This is the structure of this verb in present. Easy, isn't it?

In the next video, you will find an easier explanation about the verb to be in affirmative form, in the second one you can see a video about negative & interrogative.

Activity.- Look at the pictures and choose the correct answer, post
it.

Likes & dislikes

Hi! Today we're going to learn how to express our preferences, with love, like, hate.
For example, I really love playing volleyball or I really love volleyball.  I like surfing on internet or I like to surf on internet.  I hate drawing or I hate to draw.
These examples show the two different structures that we can use and both are correct.

Check the reading number 5 to see the likes & dislikes structures.

Possessive adjectives & pronouns

We use possessive adjectives before a noun (thing, animal, person) to express possession. For example, MY boyfriend is very attractive (mi novio es muy atractivo),  HIS car is amazing! (su carro de él es fantástico).

On the contrary, possessive pronouns most of the time are placed after a verb, for instance That red bottle is HERS (it means that the bottle belongs to her).

Chose one number from the Simpsons' pic and type your activity in a comment.

Describing people

When we want to know how a person is (about personality), we must ask: What are you like/What is he like?. You will find many adjectives which can help you to describe.

On the contrary, if we are talking about appearance we can ask HOW DOES HE LOOK LIKE?

Look at the Simpsons' picture and post your answers, try to use unknown adjectives.
